An uncommon patriot, I really want to believe that there are better days in store for our country.

I am a 28 year old African American woman.  I hold liberal as well as conservative views close to my heart. I have earned a college degree in education, but currently not employed by any school.

Political issues are really interesting to me right now, but they really point to fundamental, almost obvious truths about ourselves as common Americans.

I really enjoy most kinds of music and photography (other people’s photos – I own a digital camera, but am no photographer), and I believe that an appreciation for the arts is the difference between really living and merely existing.

I currently reside in Jackson, AL (about an hour north of Mobile) with the love of my life, but have lived in the Champaign-Urbana, IL metro area, Panama City, FL, Florence, AL and Huntsville, AL.

As Americans from all ethnicities, backgrounds and genders, we owe it to ourselves to become informed about something–preferably several things (i.e. the most important parts of our lives).  We need to pull out of this national sense of complacency.  If we don’t continue to push for the best qualities in life–and push hard, for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren–we could be headed toward a “fall” of Roman proportions.  If you understand the capacity for intelligence and innovation in human beings, then you know there is no excuse for this to come to pass.
